Looking more chtonian than earth itself, the clay creations of Elisabeth Lenoir seem to emerge from some rugged passage through time. This one called “Rest” bears witness to some harsh past story. One feels the gravity here, with all the weight at the base of the triangle; and the smaller stooped head , beside creating dynamism, suggests interrupted repose.
