The construction, and the black and white contrast lead us to concentrate on a story. Unusual subject, a little mysterious (this is not a baby; is she playing with a doll ? she looks too old ; and what about the shoes? etc ).
It is a nun mending a doll in an orphanage, by Eva Rubinstein (Buenos Ayres 1933-, daughter of the pianist).
Also black and white contrasts; but for the sheer pleasure of playing with them. It looks more artificial. Sarah Moon .
