NEWSgrist – where spin is art: China Censors Political Art

Political art is discouraged in China when it is as obvious as this Mao swimming in a blood-red river (Gao Qiang, born in Jinan,1962).
This is one of the 20 or so paintings that were taken down from galleries in the Dashanzi art district of Beijing some years ago (may 2006).
