After a trip to Canada, I’m still engrossed by canadian painting. A great number of their winter landscapes is pleasantly colourful, like this detail of ‘Matinee d’hiver a Baie-Saint-Paul’ (winter morning in Baie St-P) by Clarence Gagnon (Quebec),made between 1926 and 1934.

Contemporary landscape painters will use bold brush strokes and striking colours for jolly little fantasy winterscapes.

Normand Boisvert (Quebec, 1950)’La famille au village'(the family in the village), oil on canvas.
