This is an energetic abstract, but well organized. Don’t you believe me? I was told one day while standing perplexed in front of some Pollock, to look only at one colour at a time.
Sometimes (“sometimes” is right!) something “clicks” and one finds oneself inside the painting.
Let’s choose grey (lower right) or green (top left).
Jean-Paul Riopelle (Montreal 1923-2002) used circular motions with his palette-knife. Can you see them?
There are several dynamic circles. I think he turned around his canvas with his different colours. The deep red in the centre emphazises all these curved movements
Title? ‘La roue II’, 1956 (the wheel); of course!
