Installation Work

There is a rare quality in these installations: a poetic imagination.

Anne Arden McDonald (US I think) plays with shadows and light (she is also a photographer; this might explain that).
She uses photographic paper, chemicals (bleach, glue…), all kinds of objects from needles to fruit seeds cast in bronze and polished (!).
Her scenes are metaphors about changes, metamorphosis, evolution. About pain and rebirth.

Her site is exciting, complete with her own explanations.

‘Body of Light’ (detail); from ‘The body in Transformation’, 2006. Powdered bleach on developed photopaper.

‘Cells and Planets – The Body in the Universe'(ibid). Contact print of spheres and circles.

Ceiling detail ,’From Earth to Sky’,2005; threads and needles, photopaper, bleach.
