CBC News – Ottawa – Artist Louise Bourgeois dies

The French sculptor Louise Bourgeois just died in New York at the age of 98.
A couple of years ago, I met her very impressive ‘Maman’ (mummy), a giant spider (30ft tall) in bronze standing along the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.
The booklet said the artist meant no disrespect towards her mother, who died young (hence the fragile-looking legs) and was an expert weaver (her parents were in the tapestry (Audubon) restoration business)!
I confess I loved that beast in the snow!
