The naked body (or body parts) of the photographer himself becomes an object in the landscape; it is completely deshumanised. There is no person there, only ambiguous, improbable nature’s signs.
David Maisel :: Photography :: History&s Shadow: Group II
http://davidmaisel.com/works/picture_2009.asp?cat=his_gr2&tl=History_s%20Shadow:%20Group%20II David Maisel, from the serie ‘History’s Shadow’. By photographying museums’x-rays of antique objects, the artist builds “ghostly images (that)seem to surpass the power of the original objects of art. These spectral renderings (seem) like transmissions from the distant past, … Continue reading
Autumn: Photo by Photographer Przemyslaw Kruk – photo.net
http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=9721219 Where is she going? ‘Autumn’, Przemyslav Kruk. Perhaps mist, perhaps deliberate blurring of background enhances the tension of the character’s lines. It forces us to wonder about her destiny and our own mortality. Yes, where are we going?

http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?image=meudon7191543du8.jpg Superb geometry! Martine Franck (1938) from Magnum (a rare feminine member of that agency, declares the gallerist), ‘Meudon Observatory 1991’, http://www.hackelbury.co.uk/artists.html. Thank you for the link to this site, Johnshaven!
http://img299.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fleming19947171gg1.jpg ‘Sentient V’, Melissa Fleming. The photographer wished to express both the beauty and dangerousity of the ocean, hence a serie of fantomatic waves in the night at http://www.lensculture.com/fleming.html.
http://img74.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cpshow50478206yx7.jpg ‘Mourning Light’ says the caption, intentionally I hope: it reflects so poetically one’s impression here! From the photographer Jane Fulton Alt at http://www.edelmangallery.com/chicagoproject2007.htm. (2005). note, Aug.23. Jane Fulton Alt made a video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtiJaV7ZqJ8 )where she explains her … Continue reading
http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gamble489a2823471526oh3.jpg Such harmony! Curved lines in the foreground (reeds, trees’ branches, even the punter’s back ) in subtle accord with the soaring bridge’s shape; and beyond the stone columns, the vastness of a landscape protected by the vertical lines of … Continue reading
http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pampasgrasscurls6097ecrf8.jpg As Frannyy would say, such sense of construction! It seems to run in the Weston family! This picture comes from the grand-daughter, Cara Weston. Her site: http://www.carawestonphotography.com/gallery.htm.
http://img373.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kelp193012klarge16533elc2.jpg This is “Kelp”, an ancient photograph (1930) by Edward Weston. It looks like some beautiful and strange etching, or shapes we used to discover with some oldfashioned microscope when we were children…http://www.edward-weston.com/index.htm. A great photographic site, hosting pictures from … Continue reading
